Abstract
Hypertension occurs commonly in children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and undoubtedly contributes to the progression of disease. This review summarizes the role of hypertension in the progression of CKD in children and highlights the central role played by the renin-angiotensin system in this relentless process. Strategies for renoprotection are discussed, and treatment recommendations are made for control of hypertension in this patient population.
