Abstract
Surgical repair of a symptomatic lumbar spondylolysis will be successful if the athlete is less than 20 years old and preoperative studies delineate the abnormal anatomy to allow for the appropriate internal fixation. Return to sports is from 4 to 9 months postoperatively.
