Abstract
The growing use of the ultrasongraphy in the study of locomotor apparatus disease arises from technical development of linear high frequency probes that make it possible to obtain images with great resolution of the different superficial anatomical regions of the body where a large part of the joint structures and most of the peri-articular ones are found. Its study interests the locomotor apparatus specialist. The present manuscript makes a detailed review of the ultrasonographic image of the basic structures that make up the locomotor apparatus and then reviews the usefulness of the ultrasonography in the most frequent diseases of the musculo- skeletal system organized by anatomic regions.
