Abstract
Calcaneal fractures are difficult to classify due to their complexity and the presence of comminution. Different classifications based on plain film images or CT scan have been proposed. The use of CT scan improves understanding of the pathology of these fractures and, together with new fixation systems, is changing therapeutic strategies for calcaneal fractures, which now tend to favor surgery over conservative treatment.
