Abstract
Arthroscopy is less aggressive than open surgery for arthrotomy. Arthroscopy must be performed for diagnostic purposes since imaging findings are not specific. Arthroscopic synovectomy is the treatment of choice for pigmented villonodular synovitis in both the diffuse and pseudotumor forms.
