Abstract
This article reviews imaging modalities used for diagnosis of pathology of the hip, including radiography, CT, nuclear medicine and PET, ultrasound and MRI. Radiographic views including the faux profile view are presented. Pathological conditions and their imaging appearances are reviewed, including avascular necrosis, transient osteoporosis and stress fracture, acute fracture, tumor, bursitis, arthritis and infection. Imaging diagnosis of labral tear and femoral-acetabular impingement are introduced, in addition to the challenges of post-operative imaging.
