Abstract
Surgical correction of pathologic morphology of the acetabulum remains a valuable treatment option in the management of various abnormalities about the hip. This remains especially important in young patients with the goal of avoiding or postponing total hip arthroplasty until a later age. The three main types of procedures include reshaping, reorientation, and augmentation. Understanding the anatomy and morphology of the normal acetabulum allows greater insight into surgical correction. Appropriate patient selection is paramount in obtaining a successful outcome.
