Abstract
In a criticism of my paper ‘Exaption and Linguistic Explanation’, Crain and Pietroski argue that Generative Grammar provides deep generalizations concerning the way children acquire competence in languages.I show that their examples of analyses are mere descriptions and that an exaptive approach to language acquisition provides more insightful avenues to explore.
