Abstract
This article discusses the dependency relations between pronouns and the logophoric operator in Yoruba. It proposes that logophoric effects are results of the A-bar dependency requirements of strong pronouns. It also shows that logophoric effects can be absent when either the strong pronoun or a logophoric verb is absent from a sentence. Furthermore, it shows that the so-called anti-logophoric effect is simply the consequence of violating the A-bar dependency requirements of the strong pronouns in Yoruba.
