Abstract
In conclusion, training seems to be advantageous if directed towards not only enhancing the endurance capacity of the muscles, but also increasing the cross-sectional area of oblique fast-twitch-fibres. Training should also improve the co-ordination of deep and superficial trunk muscles. These findings may influence physiotherapy and training programs for low back pain patients.
