Abstract
There is no strict medical indication for breast augmentation. All patients undergoing cosmetic breast augmentation surgery should be able to obtain comprehensive information about benefits and risks of such surgery. The present paper is an attempt to explain both possibilities and limits for each procedure and type of material to obtain this consent form. Advances in fabrication, standardization and legislation (Europe and France) are described. Local and general risks following implantation are explained: advantages and disadvantages for primary routine implantation (scar, type and position of implant), also in particular indications, long term revisions (imperfections and complications).
