Abstract
Cytokeratin immunostaining enables detection of micrometastases in histologically negative lymph nodes in patients with biliary tract carcinoma. Prospective protocols incorporating cytokeratin staining of the lymph nodes may help determine the incidence and clinical significance of occult micrometastatic disease in these patients.
