Abstract
► Patients with thalamic stroke lesions performed a recognition and cued recall task. ► Damage to the anterior nuclei of the thalamus was negligible. ► Patients achieved poorer recognition accuracy and recall rate compared to controls. ► The deficits correlated with volume loss in the parvocellular mediodorsal nucleus. ► The evidence suggests a role of the parvocellular mediodorsal nucleus in recall.
