Abstract
⺠We test the triangle, structural assumed similarity bias, and cone hypotheses. ⺠We ameliorate some methodological shortcomings in the literature. ⺠Social orientations modeled as a continuous rather than a discrete distribution. ⺠Beliefs about others' orientations are estimated conditional on own orientations. ⺠The cone hypothesis wins: consensus expectations are highest for individualists.
