Abstract
► We test the triangle, structural assumed similarity bias, and cone hypotheses. ► We ameliorate some methodological shortcomings in the literature. ► Social orientations modeled as a continuous rather than a discrete distribution. ► Beliefs about others' orientations are estimated conditional on own orientations. ► The cone hypothesis wins: consensus expectations are highest for individualists.
