Abstract
⺠This study examines mortality rates, finding a procyclical pattern in the mortality rates of middle-aged Canadians. ⺠There is not a cyclical pattern in the mortality rates of seniors or infants, in contrast to U.S. results. ⺠We suggest the results may reflect differences in American and Canadian health care institutions.
