Abstract
A paper published in the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research [Miura, D., 2005. Effects of changing stress states on the development of caldera-bounding faults: geological evidence from Kumano caldera, Japan. J. Volcanol. Geotherm. Res. 144, 89-103] contains an erroneous result in the stress tensor calculation for fault-slip data and thus is incorrect. More adequate and reliable solutions of stress tensor have been provided. The revised analysis shows some changes in the orientations of stresses Ï2 and Ï3, and the stress ratio Ï being smaller than the original one. No other contents of the original paper, however, will be modified by this correction. The important conclusions of the paper remain the same.
