Abstract
This study shows that the micropalaeontologic characterization of mud-prone (coastal plain and estuarine) successions in terms of water depth and salinity can lead to very accurate sequence-stratigraphic interpretations, allowing identification of parasequence boundaries that may not be detected by conventional stratigraphic approach.
