Abstract
P2O5-MsOH mediated direct condensation of 2,2â²-bis(4-benzoylphenoxy)-1,1â²-binaphthyl (9) with 4-fluorobenzoic acid (10a) yielded the diaroylated monomer (11) in a moderate yield with the aid of P2O5-MsOH. The resulting monomer (11) was allowed to react with aromatic diols 2a-c, giving the corresponding optically active aromatic polyketones (6a-c). The resulting polyketones (6a-c) have high thermal resistance and excellent solubility to organic solvents.
