Abstract
CeF3 and CeF3:Tb3+ particles were prepared in a large scale by a facile molten salt synthesis (MSS) method. The substitution of Tb3+ ions in the CeF3 lattice induces the transformation of phase, microstructure and morphology. High energy transfer rate of 98.2% is obtained at the Tb3+ concentration of 20%, making the as-obtained samples highly potential in displays, sensors and telecommunications.
