Abstract
This study describes the time-rate change of the electric polarization of supercooled liquids using Extended Irreversible Thermodynamics in conjunction with the fractional derivatives formalism. The analysis leads to the Havriliak-Negami (HN) equation, empirically formulated long time ago, that gives a good account of the dielectric glass-liquid or α relaxation of supercooled liquids.
