Abstract
Non-planar cyclobutadiene and tetrasilylcyclobutadiene dianions form dicapped bis-lithium salts which may be considered as six-electron six-center three-dimensional aromatic systems. Silyl groups increase the aromaticity of the cyclobutadiene dianion.
