Abstract
Multi-configuration Dirac-Fock calculations in the active space expansion approach have been carried out on argon ion with empty K shell, variously ionized L shell and open outer shells. A good amount of electron correlation has been included in these calculations. Complete data on the wavelengths, transition rates and weighted absorption oscillator strengths of the electric dipole allowed lines are reported in this paper. The results from the present work are compared with the earlier multi-configuration Hartree-Fock values and an attempt is made to analyze the differences between the two results in terms of relativistic effects on atomic correlation.
