Abstract
An analytical formula for the Voigt spectral line profile has been derived. The obtained formula is the solution of the second-order differential equation of the Voigt profile. The obtained results using the new analytical formula are in perfect agreement with the published results obtained by numerical calculation methods for a wide range of the line damping parameter (a) . The accuracy of the obtained formula is found to be 100% for all ranges of the line damping parameter (a).
