Abstract
⺠We explore the properties of rank-dependent inequality indices. ⺠The measurement scale of the health variable turns out to be of crucial importance. ⺠For bounded health variables, absolute and relative inequality need to be redefined. ⺠We develop a matrix that provides guidelines on the usefulness of different indices.
