Abstract
⺠A generic survey is used to estimate the benefit of cataract surgery. ⺠Surgery leads to clear improvements in self-reported eye-sight. ⺠Benefits are assessed in terms of QALYS. ⺠For those with fair or poor eyesight benefits exceed costs except in extreme old age.
