Abstract
A simple, efficient, and general method has been developed for the conversion of aldehydes to 1,1-diacetates with the use of acetic anhydride and solid LiClO4 under first solvent-free and mild conditions in good yields. This method applies to not only simple but also to conjugated aldehydes.
