Abstract
Alkylations of α-methylnaphthalene with long-chain olefins (mixed olefins, m + n = 7 and 8, mass ratio of C11 to C12 is 45/55) in the presence of novel ionic liquids have been investigated. The various reaction parameters are optimized. The BPyBr-AlCl3 ionic liquids could be a practical catalyst for long-chain alkylation of α-methylnaphthalene.
