Abstract
⺠National study assesses the effect of comprehensive state tobacco control programs. ⺠Data are for 1991-2006 from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. ⺠Contemporaneous and cumulative measures of program expenditures are tested. ⺠These programs reduce prevalence of adult cigarette smoking adults. ⺠These programs are a cost-effective type of public health intervention.
