Abstract
⺠We study the collapse of international trade during the global financial crisis. ⺠We show that credit tightening contributed importantly to the fall in trade volumes. ⺠Countries with higher costs of capital exported less during the peak of the crisis. ⺠This effect was especially pronounced in financially vulnerable sectors.
