Abstract
► We examine the effect of migrant networks on firm-level export outcomes. ► We exploit the unique historical background of Portuguese emigration flows. ► We find that migrant networks promote export participation and intensity. ► Networks are a source of market and firm heterogeneity in entry costs and demand.
