Abstract
⺠The effect of financial and property rights institutions on a country's comparative advantage has a threshold effect. ⺠In economies with low-quality institutions, institutional quality can be more important than factor endowment in determining the comparative advantage. ⺠International trade may reduce the aggregate income of a developing country. ⺠International financial capital tends to flow from South to North.
