Abstract
⺠Do social norms influence investor behavior and corporate financial policies. ⺠Hong and Kacperczyk (2009) argue that social norms prevent 'evil' outcomes. ⺠We find that both ethical and unethical stocks are influenced by social norms. ⺠Social norms exert positive pressure on both US investors and firms.
