Abstract
A high power polarizer using a single grooved mirror has been developed for an electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) system of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). Two grooved mirrors were tested at a frequency of 170Â GHz, rf power of 441Â kW and a pulse duration of 0.1-6Â s for estimating Ohmic losses. The Ohmic loss of grooved mirror strongly depends not only on the rotation angle of the polarization plane of the incident waves, but also on the mirror rotaion angle. The thermal analysis of the grooved mirror has been performed with the 3D FEM code: FEVA.
