Abstract
Asymmetric field errors can cause magnetic islands with a non-inherent periodicity which are not tolerable. During the fabrication and assembly of the magnet system a precise geometrical survey allows to estimate the field errors and to make some correction by a proper adjustment of the entire modules. Further field corrections are possible by the control coils and if necessary by additional correction coils.
