Abstract
Although by its own nature always transient, a scientific discovery, even in the domain of pathogeny, can show itself durable. The history and the development of the concept of diaschisis teach that it is as much the perspicacity and the audacity of the discoverer together with the experimental procedures realized many years later, when technical progress allows it, which can explain its longevity.
