Abstract
⺠We consider the political feasibility of social security reforms. ⺠We construct a life cycle model with a two-tier structure in Japan. ⺠Calibrating the model to the Japanese economy, we compute the transition path. ⺠We find politically feasible social security reforms using the two-tier structure. ⺠The welfare of future generations improved by the reforms.
