Abstract
⺠There is an empirically established positive correlation between unemployment and income inequality. ⺠We show how job-search models can be useful in better understanding this fact. ⺠The classic Burdett and Mortensen (1998) model and one of its variations are used. ⺠We are able to analytically establish the aforementioned correlation for a ⩽15% unemployment rate.
