Abstract
⺠We study how the gains from commitment depend on how far ahead policymakers commit. ⺠All gains available can be achieved by continuously committing just one period ahead. ⺠Most of the gains can be obtained through commitment streaks lasting 3-4 periods. ⺠Short-term commitments should be more credible than once-and-for-all commitments.
