Abstract
This work presents a comparison of the performance between a familiar constant height shrouded fin and a new proposed variable height shrouded fin subjected to forced convection laminar flow. The governing equations were solved numerically using the control volume technique. Nusselt number, Nu, and friction factor multiplied by Reynolds number, fRe, are influenced greatly by the geometry of the shrouded fin and slightly by dimensionless parameter which describes the fin conductance. The variable height shrouded fin has higher Nu and lower value of fRe than that of the constant height shrouded fin.
