Abstract
Heat capacities of PbBi12O19(s) and Ï-Pb5Bi8O17(s) were measured by differential scanning calorimetry in the temperature range 280-820Â K and 280-660Â K, respectively. PbBi12O19(s) and Ï-Pb5Bi8O17(s) showed order-disorder transitions whose onset temperatures are 520Â K and 700Â K, respectively. The measured heat capacities of PbBi12O19(s) and Ï-Pb5Bi8O17(s) as a function of temperature are expressed as:Cp(JKâ1molâ1)=791.68+112.18Ã10â3Tâ13.58Ã106Tâ2(280â820K)Cp<Ï-Pb5Bi8O17>(JKâ1molâ1)=700.02+161.58Ã10â3Tâ12.85Ã106Tâ2(280â660K)Enthalpy increments, entropies and Gibbs energy functions were derived from the measured heat capacity data.
