Abstract
Enthalpies of dilution of aqueous solutions of 1-butanol, butanediols, 1,2,4-butanetriol and 1,2,3,4-butanetetrol (erythritol), were measured at 298.15Â K, using a LKB flow microcalorimeter. Experimental data were treated according to the McMillan-Mayer theory, to obtain the enthalpic interaction coefficients. The pair interaction coefficient hxx shows a clear dependence on number and position of OH groups. Results are discussed in terms of molecular interactions.
