Abstract
A series of TiSe1.60âxTex, where 0 â¤Â x â¤Â 1.60, was prepared. The samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis in Ar and N2 atmospheres. The XRD measurements showed that the titanium seleno-tellurides form a continuous solid solution of a hexagonal structure. Thermal behaviour of the compounds was studied by thermogravimetric analysis for samples x = 0, 0.16, 0.80, 1.44, 1.60 in the temperature interval from 25 to 1273 K. After heating in Ar, no mass loss was observed in selenide (x = 0). In contrast, for telluride (x = 1.60) mass loss took place due to a formation of ditelluride. For seleno-tellurides in nitrogen atmosphere both disproportion reaction and a reaction of ditelluride with N2 occurred simultaneously.
