Abstract
The experimental study of the influence of HV AC 400 and 110Â kV (rms) power lines on the concentration of the intermediate and light large air ions, was carried out for potential health effects evaluation. The measurements were done with the modified aspiration ion counter, 0.5Â m above the ground. It was found that up to 100Â m on the leeward side of the line the density of positive charge carried by medium and large ions was higher up to 3.9-fold than on the windward side and negative charge up to 2.2-fold with the excess of positive ions. Between 100 and 300Â m, the concentration of negative ions became higher than that of positive ones.
