Abstract
The BEM algorithm includes Green's functions for a horizontal fluid layer over a semi-infinite solid, which avoids the discretrization of the horizontal surfaces, and thus only the rigid inclusion needs to be discretized by boundary elements. The model uses complex frequencies with a small imaginary part to avoid aliasing phenomena. Time domain responses are obtained by applying an inverse Fourier Transform to the frequency results. The source is modeled as a Ricker pulse. The simulations are performed for three different properties of the solid medium: a fast formation, a slow formation and a sediment formation.
