Abstract
Interfaces or thin soft interlayers in laminated structures usually exhibit a certain degree of viscosity under high temperature circumstance. The response of such structures under static loading thus will be time-dependent, making the solution procedure more complicated than that for perfect laminates. In a previous paper, we proposed a step-by-step semi-analytical method to calculate the response of laminated plates featuring interlaminar viscous interfaces [Chen, W.Q., Lee, K.Y., 2004. Time-dependent behaviors of angle-ply laminates with viscous interfaces in cylindrical bending. Eur. J. Mech. A Solids 23, 235-245]. In this paper, we extend this method to investigate the three-dimensional response of a simply-supported cross-ply laminated cylindrical panel. Numerical calculations are performed and the effect of interface's viscosity is discussed.
