Abstract
Supposing the material properties to be one-dimensionally dependent, this paper studied the transient response of an embedded crack and edge crack perpendicular to the boundary of an orthotropic functionally graded strip. Integral transforms and dislocation density functions are employed to reduce the problem to the solution of a system of singular integral equations. Numerical results show how the orthotropy and nonhomogeneity of the strip influence the dynamic fracture behaviors.
