Abstract
Feature-based machining (FBM) is an essential method for high quality component manufacture using computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines, which provides better accuracy and process manageability. Machining strategy for interacting features is a less discussed subject, through which manufacturing cycle time reduction can be achieved. This work proposes a strategy for FBM applied to interactive features available in a part CAD model. Some details of interactive type features, mathematical formulation of the machining strategy, and case study with results are presented. This strategy may be useful for process planners in the area of CNC manufacture of complex parts.
