Abstract
An analytic model, which can calculate the heat transfer and thermal deformation of hot powder pressing roller, was suggested. The calculation accuracy of the model was verified with a finite element method (FEM) and experimental results. By using the strain versus cycle's curve (E-N curve) of the roller material and the prediction of the thermo-mechanical behavior of the roller, the lifetime of the roller at a given operating condition could be estimated. The predicted value was fairly reasonable in comparison with the actual operating data.
