Abstract
Previous reports of the effect of laser cutting on magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steels and how it compares to mechanical (guillotining, punching) reveal some seemingly conflicting findings. Measurements reported here confirm that it is possible to minimize the effect on magnetic properties by selecting an appropriate laser cutting process.
