Abstract
A finite element approach of the electromagnetic forming process is presented. The free compression of an aluminium tube inside a solenoid coil is considered. The input data are derived from the literature. The most significant mechanical as well as electromagnetic time-varying or spatially distributed parameters of the process are calculated efficiently in the same modelling environment. This fact improves the potentiality for the industrial application of the process and it contributes to the better understanding of its physical principles.
